ERKELENZ. What happens when the ambulance comes? What about it? Many questions were asked by the students of class 3a of Astrid Lindgren community primary school the personnel of the German Red Cross.

DRC-circle readiness manager Heinz Rath Greven, Carsten Kohnen and Patricia Montesinos answered the numerous questions of the children. In return, Kohnen put the children some questions: "What is important when you need to call help? What is the emergency number? And what you have always with you? What should I do in first aid on the spot in an accident? "

Here the children proved that they are highly trained specialists. "112," she answered, "our mouth we have always with you, so that we can comfort the injured." Even the key questions in the indication of the accident site were familiar to the children. "If you can dial the emergency number, comforting the injured and can not come to a first aid kit, then you have achieved a lot," said Kohnen.

The interior of the Red Cross ambulance was fascinated by the students. The team allowed some children on the stretcher "sample" to lie.

Antonia was the first, and the children were amazed that the carrier could be folded down to the ground. As an additional exercise demonstrated Kohnen, as a supply of oxygen for the patient can be placed.

Patricia Montesinos declared the interior of the car. "We talk all the time with the patient," she told the children. "Keep calm and comforting is important."

She demonstrated to the children that the first measure is donning of gloves. Again, the students knew the reasons for it and proved that they are highly trained specialists. "This is no infection and no transfer of bacteria takes place," said Elisabeth reports.

How important is the stethoscope, is known to them. Surprised they show up but the acoustics. Why the different sizes of the sphygmomanometer must be present, says Montesinos. That a device for pulse measurement but not the manual control replaced by the manual measurement, surprised the children. So the medic jokes because even in a child: "Here, the device measures a pulse, so here we have the first vampire."

The atmosphere is loosened with the children well. "The teaching is lived," teacher Roswitha van Engelen says enthusiastically. "The children have already internalized the assistance. As the crashed yesterday a classmate, they used their knowledge to immediately. "

The visit of the ambulance one of the highlights in the teaching series "First Aid for Children" there.

8 June invites the DRC again to Teddy Bear Hospital in the period 10-16 clock, to Fire Station 8, in Erkelenz. The children can then imagine the doctor hurt her stuffed animal.
